It all started with a horse, of course! Fields and Flowers Farm owners, Barb and Onno, took an unplanned shortcut across a shed row and caught a glimpse of a floating trot which resulted in the decision to purchase a weanling, Thoroughbred colt, later name Musing. He did not race well, but went on to become a Canadian National Champion sire of hunter and jumper horses. Musing’s show ring success and that of his offspring helped to build the farm to what it is today and continues to influence Barb and Onno’s lives.
The Shed Row Market benefits The New Stride Thoroughbred Adoption Society which provides Thoroughbred horses, just off the track, a chance to succeed in other equestrian disciplines and become much loved companions. The Shed Row Market seemed the most fitting way to acknowledge the contribution that Musing has made to the farm and this benefit was created to afford other ex-race horses the same chance at a new home.
Held several times per year, The Shed Row Market is an exclusive indoor and outdoor boutique-style market that features locally grown and produced foods and flowers along with those little things we all love; jewellery, pottery, paintings and more. We strive to ensure that The Shed Row Market vendors hold themselves to the highest standards of quality and excellence so that we can bring you the best that British Columbia has to offer.
